• Perform daily inspections of the facility and equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Test wastewater samples for pollutants using standard laboratory tests such as BOD and COD, ammonia, total suspended solids, oil and grease and other parameters.

Monitor, adjust, and maintain chemical feed systems for pH control, chlorine disinfection, and sludge conditioning.

• Operate valves, pumps, blowers and aeration systems to control flow and processing of wastewater.
• Assist with plant start-up or shut down procedures in accordance with established protocols.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations regarding water quality standards.
• Calibrate instruments such as Lab testing equipment to maintain accuracy.
• Maintain, repair and lubricate equipment.
• Perform housekeeping duties to keep facilities clean and neat.
• Inspect grounds around plant area for debris that could interfere with normal operations or affect water quality.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations involving spills or malfunctions at the plant.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as filter backwashing and cleaning tanks according to scheduled preventive maintenance programs.
• Maintain records of process operations including flows rates, chemical dosages, test results, maintenance activities and other relevant data.
• Participate in safety meetings; adhered strictly to safety rules while performing duties.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers when discussing operation issues or troubleshooting problems.
• Sample and test wastewater, apply chemical dosing, receive chemical shipments and perform wastewater plant preventive maintenance and minor corrective maintenance.
• Monitor plant supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA) system.
• Record operational data and send shift reports.
