Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on a 32 bed med-surg unit offering a broad range of medical treatments, including a range of specialized orthopedic and plastic surgery services. Self-motivated, with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ability to break down problems, evaluate, and make decisions. Adaptable and proficient in learning new concepts quickly and efficiently. Unit requires strong interpersonal skills, wound care, IV and injection skills, drains, monitoring hemodynamic stability, and an ability to assess and react quickly while caring for five patients.

• Charge nurse and preceptor responsible for coordinating and caring for inpatients and outpatients undergoing a variety of radiology procedures in the pre-op, procedural, and post-op settings. Also cared for infusion and injection patients, administered moderate sedation, IV and port access, central line care, and nursing support for all modalities within radiology. ACLS certification was required. Responsibilities included responding to rapid responses within the imaging department and lobby areas.

Charge nurse responsible for 21 beds; preceptor to new and experienced nurses; care of 3-5 post-op complex spine, craniotomy, kidney/pancreas transplant, stroke, and neuro patients including, but not limited to: lumbar drains, arterial lines, groin site management, PCEA/PCA, NIH stroke scale, IV drips, transplant medication administration, blood transfusions, chest tubes, tracheostomy, wound care, drains, feeding tubes, and braces.

Cared for 6 to 7 orthopedic, spine surgery, hand transplant/replantation, maxillofacial, podiatry, and general med-surg patients. Skills included, but not limited to: wound care, leech therapy, braces, traction, prosthetics, PCA, thermometric monitoring, vascular monitoring, wound vacs, stomas, feeding tubes, and drains. Advanced to a charge nurse role after 2 years. Responsible for 28 beds; preceptor to new and experienced nurses, students, and externs.

Solely responsible for maintaining ongoing operations of salon, including: scheduling, marketing, accounting, inventory, engaging in relevant continuing education, attaining necessary licenses and staying within compliance of state and professional codes of conduct, and forming and preserving relationships with clients with a diverse array of needs and personalities.
