When my husband and I got married in 2022 I chose to leave the workforce and focus on responsibilities in the home so we could build a strong family unit and adjust well to being married. Some of these responsibilities include:

  • Finances: I build a sustainable budget based on the needs and dynamics of our family, balance the books, and ensure assets and investments- stocks, roth IRA, etc.- remain stable and grow.
  • Inventory: Just as an office manager oversees supply stock, so I do with the supplies of our home. Making adjustments as needed to remain cost effective, time efficient, and energy saving.
  • Community: Homemaking allows for a flexible schedule and one of the ways I use that to my advantage is getting involved in my local community. Here in South Carolina I express that through maintaining leadership responsibility within a faith-based women's group on Tuesday mornings.

When I was in school for cosmetology I also worked a part-time job at a hair salon. My responsibilities were as follows:

  • Hygiene: Consistently maintain cleanliness and organization of personal workspace as well as whole salon. Cycling laundry, maintaining product stock for stylist use as well as customer purchase, disinfecting tools and equipment.
  • Customer Service: Answering phones, booking appointments according to work dynamic of stylist and customer demand, greeting, seating, and collecting payment from customers, and assisting with right product purchase to meet customer's need.
  • Administration/Finance: Maintaining product stock and inventory, balance the books and open/close the cash drawer according to shift, set up and maintaining product displays and proper descriptions according to price changes.
