  • There I oversaw the family unit
  • I performed interviews with families and with the child coming in for care
  • I was part of the team in creating a treatment plan for the child
  • The Human Development Center is a center to help children who experience mental, intellectual, and/or physical disabilities

  • Throughout the school year I would work in childcare
  • This work gave me exposure to the role of a social worker at a childcare center
  • As well as the different dynamic a child has in coming from foster care
  • I learned how to appropriately take care of a child who may have previously experienced trauma
  • I also was exposed to many cultures
  • I learned how implementing culture is critical in caring for a child
  • For example, the family I nanny for is from Lebanon
  • It was essential for me to apply Arabic music into the care with the child

  • I had the wonderful experience of being able to serve food to people in need in the Bisman community
  • I helped with the preparation of food as well with the social aspect of serving and talking with the people that would come in
  • It was a very rewarding experience to be able to help and meet so many wonderful people and hear their stories

  • I created and organized a study with two other fellow students that specifically looked at college students ages 18-23 and how they view their bodies given different childhood environments
  • These environments included parent relations, cellphone usage, and community
  • The experience was enlightening in learning how to use SPSS software and producing proper statistical evidence for our research question
