I assist the teacher with helping students with their work, staying on task, giving extra directions, keeping kids on schedule with pull-outs, dealing with behaviors, and making copies from week to week.
Two years ago, my position in the school was changed. I do educational interventions with kids who need extra help in any area.
I also substitute for teachers if we are short and have no one to cover the classroom.
I oversee all the children who are 6 years of age and younger. During Sunday School, I give the Sunday School lesson.
During church, I supervise the arts and crafts, or play and ensure safety. Making sure they are safe and age-appropriate toys for all ages. That way, all the kids are having fun! I also talk with the parents at pick-up and drop-off times.
These are all things that were done daily. Frying donuts, icing donuts, putting sugar and powdered sugar on the donuts, cleaning up the donut case, and getting the new donuts out and ready. Packing the new donuts, priced, and put on the shelf for the customers to buy. Making and packaging special orders. Making dough for fresh bread, rising, cooking, packaging, pricing, and putting it out on the shelf for the customers. I also delivered some special orders.
I was the lead teacher of the 3-year-old room. I was in charge of making out the staff schedule and lining up the substitutes. Planning all the activities from day to day, and arranging a field trip and notes to go home. Making sure all paperwork is done on time, such as cleaning charts and medication charts. Talking or making calls to parents about schedules, behaviors, or any other questions or concerns we may have had.
I planned all the buildings, breakfast, lunch, and snacks for all the kids. I cooked breakfast for everyone. I was also in charge of all the grocery shopping for each meal. I kept all the food income paperwork for each child at the Wickman Center, which also entailed making sure each family filled out the paperwork. Gathered paperwork from each classroom weekly, and entered it in the computer. I had to chart each child in the Daycare Center who was present during a meal or snack. The monthly meal calendar would rotate every three months to provide the kids with a variety of choices. I went to yearly food training classes to stay certified in planning, charting, and taking care of all things involved with the Food Program.
Watched over and took care of the basic needs of children from 2 years to 5 years of age. Which included playing with, changing diapers/potty training, making lunch/snack, filling out accident reports, marking down which kids were at each meal, washing and drying cot sheets, planning crafts, putting kids down for naps, greeting parents at drop-off and pick-up, going on field trips, answering the phones, and cleaning up any messes or accidents.
