My name is Rafe Donnenwerth. I work in film because even as a production assistant, working on a set is the best job in the world. I have the most experience as a production assistant working on multiple non union hybrid movies in Los Angeles. I have recently, after testing out pretty much every department, broken into the AD department on my first union Lifetime movie. I have experience on both the smallest possible sets, and sets for big budget productions. I am able to fill any hole necessary on a crew but found my place as a 2nd 2nd for now.
Primarily I was responsible for escorting first team to and from set and coordinating with costumes and hair and makeup to ensure changeovers go smoothly. I also handled background artists and their paperwork as well as placing them in the scenes themselves. Lastly I assisted with getting exhibits signed and printing out and distributing call sheets.
I was responsible for assisting the 2nd AD with receiving and keeping track of our background as well as being extra hands for whatever department needed me. I worked a lot with art and a little with camera as well. I was also responsible for setting up crafty in addition to lunch.
I was extra hands for whatever department needed me. I worked a lot with G&E helping set up the scene and load the truck as well as art department, building and setting up props and set dressing. I was also in charge of running lockup.
I shadowed the kep PA and learned from him while also being in charge of setting up crafty and running lockup.
