  • As Chief Resident, I was the intermediary between the internal medicine house staff and the administration.
  • To keep my clinical skills sharp, I became a junior attending physician during selected evenings and weekends throughout the academic year.
  • Played a key role in organizing the work schedules for more than 90 residents and took particular pride in mentoring first-year residents who were new to the hospital.
  • The administrative responsibilities of the Chief Resident included reviewing daily progress notes for accurate documentation, coordinating morbidity and mortality conferences, assessing telemetry strips to verify appropriate responses to critical arrhythmias, and overseeing patient distribution across six medicine teams, two intensive care units, and the telemetry service to ensure excellent patient care and safety.
