Work History

Staff Validation Engineer, ADAS/AD Viewing

Lucid Motors
Fremont, CA
02.2021 - Current
  • Co-Feature Owner for the surround-view camera-based Curb Rash Alert Feature.
  • Extensively worked on both human vision features (like surround view monitoring, blind spot display, and rear view display) and machine vision features, like curb rash alert, line-based parking features, and driver monitoring features.
  • Acting as the system test lead for the ADAS viewing and parking feature validation group for more than a year. The team size is six engineers.
  • I worked with the ADAS embedded platform team, as well as the infotainment development and QA teams, on a daily basis.
  • I also worked with many other cross-functional teams, such as the build and release team, supply chain team, design UX/UI team, homologation team, and OTA team.
  • Interim system requirements engineer, where I have given requirements to both internal and supplier teams for AIR program features, like SVM, distracted driver alert, and drowsy driver alert.
  • Proactively identified the gaps in the system design by having extensive platform-level knowledge, and identified corner cases through vehicle testing.
  • Built the closed-loop bench setup for both air and gravity programs to maximize test efficiency through bench testing, which involved CAPL automation in Vector Canoe, Python scripting in reboot regression tests to measure the boot-up times, and health status of the apps running on Linux-based ADAS compute units.
  • Bench testing was used in developing and finalizing the SVM 3D car model, which needs to adapt to various option codes, such as the vehicle's exterior color, trim type, roof type, and vehicle line.
  • Involved in integration, development, and validation testing in apps using the RTP protocol for transmitting video from the ADAS compute unit to the infotainment controller.
  • Performed export market testing, feature de-contenting tests based on the ADAS feature package selected.
  • Multitasking to deliver both air and gravity program-related features that have many parallel deadlines.
  • The triaging point of contact for customer and internal fleet-reported issues.
  • Drive test vehicles every day as part of mileage accumulation, which led me to gain knowledge in SAE Level 2 features such as hands-on driving, hands-free driving assist, lane change assist, traffic sign recognition, and traffic drive-off alert, etc.

System Test Integration Engineer

Valeo North America
Troy, MI
05.2018 - 02.2021
  • Bench/vehicle-level integration testing for every VeSCoM release to four/eight-camera surround view systems for model year 2019-2021 vehicles, and its integration with infotainment.
  • Leading customer workshops to assess system performance and agree, plan, and implement resolution paths for customer vehicle complaints.
  • Complaint with Automotive SPICE for the test spec development, templates, and spec baselining.
  • Utilizing Rational DOORS to review requirements, develop test cases, provide linkage to customer requirements, and generate test reports.
  • Developing GUIs and I/O modules for the simulation of a real-time multiple CAN bus network for better analysis of test data.
  • Full understanding of the ECU system architecture and performed various tests, like functional testing, cross-functional testing, delta testing, regression testing, and smoke testing for vehicle and trailer-based end-user features.
  • Experience in performance analysis of the system and debugging skills in an in-vehicle environment via diagnostics.
  • Functional knowledge of the vehicle architecture, data communication strategies, and over-the-air processes, and perform the requirement review analysis.
  • Root cause analysis of the issues based on internal ECU communications and bug reporting, using Collabnet TeamForge.
  • Measure and report the in-vehicle performance of multiple algorithms related to trailering and vision systems.
  • Assisted various functional owners (FOs) responsible for the trailering, motion tracking calibration during the algorithm integration at the system level.
  • Served as the first point of contact for the customer in addressing system-level issues at the vehicle level.
  • Efficiently tracked the customer open issues list and provided timely updates related to test strategy progress and test outcomes.
  • Engaged with internal and external stakeholders to develop robust requirements, which eliminated the end user corner cases.
  • Responsible for leading the design of integrated tests (DIT) at customer test benches for the MY20 and MY21 releases.
  • Identifying and tracking end-user corner cases that occurred during the vehicle-level testing, and aligning with the respective stakeholders.
  • Acted as system test lead for a couple of months, which involved managing the changes in the project scope, identifying potential crises, and devising contingency plans.
  • Proactively managed calibration file releases with the accurate test results in a timely manner.
  • Frequent multitasking during the project risks being under-resourced with the same test plan outcome.
  • Documented the technical specifics and processes up to date, which helped the team members as a reference from time to time.
  • Proactively supported ramping up new team members by providing product knowledge in vehicle/bench.

System Test Engineering Intern

Valeo North America
