A Dairy Specialist’s responsibilities include
- Supporting the Center Store Team Leader in all relevant tasks and assignments

Primary Function:

Machines and Equipment Used:
E.C.L. Crane with special equipment for tapping, crust breaking, changing anodes, raising beams, and adding fluoride products. Forklifts. Pot hoods. Specialty equipment for pot operation. Front end loaders. Sweepers. Tractor trailer, trackmobile, crushing units, Skagit, 2-way radios. Computers.

Duties:
1. Breaks crust with pneumatic device and charges pot with alumina from potline crane.
2. Operates hydraulic and air jacks from potline crane to install, adjust, and replace anodes. Cleans the anode butt and the hole.
3. Siphons indicated weight of aluminum from pots into a tapping ladle by utilizing controls at floor level, then empties ladle contents into a transport ladle on the floor.
4. Uses anode support beam to raise beams.
5. Adds bagged and bulk materials needed in the pots.
6. Takes bath and aluminum samples.
7. Maintains constant check for evidence of "impossible" anode effect or other pot disturbances.
8. Crust breaks pots after anode effects using the applicable procedures and puts out anode effect impossibles.
9. Reports all equipment damage or malfunctions to supervisor.
10. Checks quantity of aluminum and bath in pots by cutting hole in crust and determining levels.
11. Has a working knowledge of the Data General computer data entry and retrieval systems.
12. Records operational information on pot blackboard and in computer.
13. Sweeps area around pot and sweeps ore on pot.
14. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and prescribed condition.
15. Observes plant and departmental safety rules
16. Tours and assessed pot conditions and reviews available computer information; determines and performs corrective action as required.
17. Enters all work tickets in computer and contacts maintenance for repairs.
18. Participates as needed in scheduling maintenance of equipment.
19. Assumes responsibility for determining need and for ordering and scheduling ladles and bulk materials.
20. Assumes responsibility and initiates corrective action during emergency situations until such time as a supervisor is available.
21. Assumes responsibility for modifying work schedules and coordinating work flow to ensure the efficient completion of daily tasks.
22. Performs all functions of pot cut-out in absence of pot reline department.
23. Assists other departments as necessary in performing work associated with the potline.
Prepares pots for pot repair. Inspects, complets pre-flights and operates mobile equipment including: Tractor trailer, Skagit, forklift, trackmobile, crushing units, cranes (fixed and mobile), front-end loader, vacuum truck and sweeper.(Some of this equipment requires a CDL training course). Stocks alder poles in designated areas on potlines as needed Straightens seals and dippers as needed / assigned Performs Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on specified equipment Assist will all job functions performed by Potline Specialist Assist in the operation of the autogenous mill as needed. Assist with snow removal as needed Assist with bag crust operation as needed Assist with kiln operation as needed Assist with magnetic separator operation as needed Is responsible for knowing role and responsibilities within Intalco’s Environmental, Health, & Safety management system. Perform other related duties as directed.
