Work History

Data Scientist II

Caterpillar
10.2019 - Current
  • Supported development and maintenance of codes in Python/SAS extracting BOMBOD data to provide BOM to the Value Chain designers.
  • Supported the next-generation value chain modelling by developing an SCGuru process mapping.
  • Lead small focussed projects in NPE such as Quality gate analysis around Planning Signal completeness and connectivity improvements working with specific BUs/Facilities and RI-IT process partners.
  • Developed customized reports for the ITDD material cost management team generating the current year and next year LOS reports leveraging various datasets.
  • Provided monthly supplier performance details report for users in Large Power Systems Division. This report is used in Part Supplier Capability (PSC) tool which combines the supplier-performance metrics with data about the design and manufacturing characteristics of those parts which is used by engineers and buyers to study/optimize supplier capability/selection for both new and existing parts.
  • Supported the Engine's Integrated Business Planning forecasting team to map the Engine Forecast to Engine Arrangements, in order to feed the data to E2OPEN and further calculate the attachment ratios.
  • Created and maintain a code which provides weekly report of Mandatory Attachment groupings to the S & OP team which supports attachment schedulers in various Caterpillar facilities via IBP.
  • Contributed to the model development, data transformations, enhancement of plots in the dashboard of the “Lean CoE Forecasting Tool” which is proposed to be developed for the RI - Workstream 10. This involved in development of a cross validation function and a generalized function for all forecasting models in R to calculate the N-month out/ Future forecast along with comparative ggplots.
  • Provided data support whenever required to the RI Business Intelligence team for Cycle management dashboard, Safety stock writeback process or the Dealer Order Planning dashboard.

Data Scientist I

Caterpillar
01.2017 - 09.2019
  • Continuous support for EVC Network Modelling teams through Data Guru post processing and Tableau refresh for MH&U Product Groups. Developed and maintained SAS codes, modification of dataguru workflows and tableau dashboards to provide on-time operational support for clients as required, 95% of the time (2017-till date).
  • Supported Network and Inventory optimization through multiperiod and agility modelling using Supply chain guru for OHT and LMT product groups. DoE techniques were also applied on various factors such as lead time, service level, factory availability and demand variance to find its total effect on the safety stock recommendations. The insights helped in providing >= 5X value to cost ratio for the Material Handling & Underground and Surface Mining and Technology BU every quarter.
  • Developed a SAS code for a project which involved building an inventory visualization tool to improve aftermarket parts availability, in order to manage the overall optimal targeting stocking level of low volume/spike demand of rebuilds and overhauls of LWL product line. It helped stakeholders to identify and prioritize backordered parts with largest impact to the product line with poor availability in all regions.
  • Provided data expertise in support of a fleet management project, which involved analyzing various conditional, performance indicators of a fleet of equipments present in Job sites. Developed codes to cleanse and standardize the data from telematic systems through imputational techniques, thereby using that data to derive and define performance KPI’s. These metrics along with conditional indicators helped to analyzed the fleet using techniques such as cluster analysis to determine utilization trends (i.e., classify assets with High Load/High hours, Low load/Low hours) and determine candidates of fleet good for replacement/relocation. Created an analytic methodology to alert to potential wear out conditions based on the presence of specific target elements for the machine fluid compartments.
