  • Provide EHS leadership for the Roche Capital Program, with a primary focus on large (>$500MM) projects from concept design, through detailed design, construction, commissioning, operational readiness and support to start up
  • Specific responsibilities include:
  • Active member of the Roche Capital Project Safety Leadership Team with overall responsibility for safety on capital projects, providing direction and leadership to the project construction management teams.
  • Responsible for developing and the implementation of the Roche/Spark HSE program for all US capital projects
  • Drive the execution of the safety program from Conceptual Design through Basis of Design, Detailed design, Commissioning and Operations Readiness.
  • Work with Project Leadership teams to mentor, coach and help them implement the new Capital Projects Visual Safety Standards program.
  • Provide monthly project safety report to the Roche Capital Projects Leadership Team.
  • Conduct wrap-up audit findings meetings with the Project Leadership Team before leaving the site and ensure there is a mechanism in place to track to closure any outstanding action items stemming from the audit.
  • Implement contractor EHS pre-qualification processes; and develop methodologies to monitor performance (through a range of lagging and leading indicators) on an ongoing basis.
  • Be fully involved in Roche project serious incidents / near-miss investigations and ensure the Five-Why/RCA investigative tool is used to its full potential to get to true root cause.
  • Five Why/RCA SME and trainer (an interactive interrogative technique used to explore cause-and-effect relationships underlying a particular problem) and conduct formal training with each Capital Project Construction Management Team member.
  • Champion the Roche Safety Behavioral Program and ensure the program is embedded in capital projects e.g., all noted safety behavioral trends are being reported back to the workforce and actionable items getting closed out in a timely manner.
