Work History

(New Store) Opening Manager / Barista

Ding Tea
Garland, US
10.2023 - Current
  • As the opening manager, I come in two to three hours before business hours to set up the store and prep the boba, all teas, and needed toppings for the day.
  • During business hours, I also acted as a barista, taking orders, and making drinks for customers. This job required one to be perky and courteous as well as fast and efficient. In short, excellent customer service is a must.
  • I also provided training to new hires, as well as advice for my dear friend, who owns this fine establishment, as this is her first business in food service, and I have over two decades of experience.

Closing Manager

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches
Garland, US
03.2023 - Current
  • As the closing manager, I am responsible for supervising staff, ensuring that the best customer service possible is provided to our patrons, and that everything is ready for the next shift each following morning.
  • Excellence is primarily my goal when it comes to customer service, and that is a major part of my role here, as I am on the front line throughout each shift. I want my customers to walk out of my store with a smile on their faces, and maybe something they'll remember and smile or laugh about later.
  • I've found that the most rewarding part of this job is the relationships I've built with the regular customers, as well as my employees.
  • A perfect close entails the store being cleaned thoroughly from the front of the house to the office, and anywhere food is stored. Also, (of course, as in any establishment where food is served) all products are checked for expiration, rotated, restocked, wrapped, and ready for the following shift. My final task each night is closing out the POS system—ensuring no orders are left open before closing the shift, counting and handling cash and deposits, approving employees' clock-out times, and completing the end-of-day system shutdown.

Head Chef/Kitchen Manager

Splits sports bar and grill
Rowlett, US
03.2020 - 02.2023
  • When I came back to Splits, I was asked to resume my previous position as head chef, with all of the same job duties and expectations, but with more managerial duties as well, such as food/product budgeting, inventory, and ordering.
  • I took on making the schedule, interviewing potential new employees, hiring and firing staff, as well as reprimands, redirects, and awards.
  • Also, I changed the menu again using my own personal recipes, which quickly became very popular and increased our food sales significantly.
  • I set in place new cleaning and prep routines that afforded staff the ability to split cleaning duties equally throughout each shift, so as to ensure the kitchen remained clean without being unfair to one another, overworking, or overexerting staff (as this was an issue when I came in).
  • My primary goal was to fix the problems left by the previous kitchen manager and help the business find new, better ways to improve overall, starting with the efficiency of the kitchen and staff.

Owner/Housekeeper

Nikki's Pristine Cleaning Service
07.2014 - 01.2022
  • Thorough and precise sanitation services for homes and business offices in the Dallas area.
  • Typical job tasks include full house (or office) cleaning, dusting, sanitizing all surfaces (i.e., floors, counters, tables, walls), washing, folding, and putting away laundry, changing bedding, organizational and space management skills, and light yard work.
  • Move-out cleaning, inclusive of light wall repairs, paint touch-up, and packing services upon request.

Shift Lead/Head Chef

Splits Sports Bar and Grill
Rowlett, US
01.2014 - 06.2016
  • As both the Shift Lead and then Head Chef, I was responsible for ensuring a steady, precise flow in the kitchen during the busiest hours, while sending out quality, delicious food to our patrons in a timely manner.
  • Here, in addition to cooking, I also managed each station, trained staff, maintained quality control, orchestrated catering events, came up with support strategies for staff and the business as a whole during dry/slow seasons, and even managed to improve food sales over time with changes to the menu.

Administrative Assistant

Life Abilities Inc
Dallas, US
04.2013 - 06.2013
  • Here, my key responsibilities included conducting Career and Community Support Analysis meetings with clients, writing extensive, detailed reports regarding data obtained, as well as periodical update reports.
  • I also performed job searches with and for clients, as well as accompanied them to interviews, orientations, and any training needed for their positions.
  • Conducting vocational adjustment training classes is another important job task of mine, specifically. I thoroughly enjoyed working with our consumers and helping them through this stage of growth, leading to another exciting endeavor for them, whether they were born with their disability, or it was later onset, or if they’ve been employed before or this was their first time in the workforce; it was incredibly rewarding working with each of them.

Kitchen/Bar Manager

Coqui's
Dallas, US
06.2008 - 08.2011
  • When I started during Coqui's opening week, I was the only cook and bartender. Business increased significantly in the first month, and the owner tasked me with finding and hiring a full staff of cooks and bartenders.
  • Along with hiring, training, creating a menu for both the kitchen and the bar (the owner wanted unique drink and food ideas), and managing staff, customer service was a huge part of my duties there.
  • Seeing as I was the face of the kitchen and bar, any time there was a problem or issue among staff or with customers, it was my job to defuse the situation and find solutions that worked for every party involved.
  • It was a hectic environment most days, as the building was small, in need of repair, and we had more business than the building could fit most days. But I did have the wonderful opportunity to work with a very diverse staff of amazing people from all walks of life, ranging in age from 18 to 63 years old.
  • The location and the patrons of this little bar/cantina sometimes posed a challenge for me in the beginning, but that turned out to be highly constructive in my growth and development in customer service, as well as management, in general. After working here, I felt like I could take on anything thrown my way.

Server/Hostess

IHOP
Dallas, US
09.2007 - 02.2008
  • While working as a hostess, my key responsibilities were greeting patrons and seating them.
  • As a server, I greeted patrons, took food and drink orders, prepared small dishes, prepared drinks, and maintained a clean, orderly workstation and appearance.

Server/Prep-Cook

Michelle's Homestyle
Dallas, US
10.2006 - 06.2007
  • Working at Michelle's was very fast-paced, and job tasks varied depending on the day of the week.
  • When I was not serving food on the line, I cooked various cakes, pies, and breads.
  • I prepared sauces, as well as other small side items, for meals.

Restaurant Manager

Gloria's
Cooper, US
02.2003 - 12.2006
  • Company Overview: A small-town, family-owned café in the sleepy, old town square.
  • My job tasks here included all standard, basic managerial duties, such as scheduling, hiring, firing, training, inventory management, handling cash and bank deposits, as well as ensuring exemplary customer service.

Receptionist

Sheila's Nails
Duncanville, US
05.2000 - 08.2003
  • In this position, I was in charge of typical receptionist duties, such as answering the phones, scheduling appointments, greeting clients, and serving them snacks and/or beverages while they waited.
  • Another part of my job duties was taking inventory of products, overall cleaning/sanitization, and light handiwork (i.e., installing fixtures such as faucets and lights, repairing small appliances and fixtures, and sanitizing utensils used after each client).
