I own and operate a small farm consisting of 65 cows and 80 sheep.
I maintain and repair all of my farm equipment. I use torches welders grinders to fabricate and repair equipment as need. I build my own shops, feeding facilities and bridges from wood items that require a close tolerance of fit and structural soundness.
I learned to operate farm equipment from my Grandfather when I was only nine years old . He taught me how to operate, maintain and repair all types of equipment. Over the years I have learned from many others many skills including laying of brick, artificial stone, concrete blocks, forming and finishing concrete, putting down different types of flooring, plumbing, and roofing . These are much needed skills when operating a farm. I also built my own house in 1997 from the ground up. This included carpentry, plumbing, mason, painting, flooring, roofing, and electrical. I made material list and purchased materials need to complete the job.
Plan and repair the installation and maintenance of wide verity of electrical equipment including control panels, sewage lift stations, motors, timing controls and transformers.
Review and complete all work orders given to me by supervisor.
Assist carpenters and plumbers in the layout, construction and general maintenance of all buildings and related facilities on projects.
Repair electrical systems/components related to flood control structures,recreation areas,and office buildings
Make regular and parodic inspections of electrical systems and equipment. I operated an ATV and UTV when performing inspections during high water events. I operated dump trucks when hauling rip rap rock to persimmon hill camp ground shore line upgrade. Used front end loader to load rock and gravel into dump trucks as they delivered rocks to the work site, I operated D6 bull dozer to push gravel up unto stock pile when it was being delivered to stock yard, I operated long reach track hoe to stock pile rip rap rock as it was delivered to stock pile. I operated mini excavator to repair roads and berm to west emergency outlet chanel. I operated skid steer with mulching head to clean up access road to lower outlet chanel. I operated tractor with box blade to spread gravel and repair roads on the upper lake. I designed and fabricated system for laying out the fabric used for shore line protection. I designed and fabricated an all aluminum cage system to house electric de water pumps. I made a material list for all parts needed to complete the project. This system saved many man hours of labor during de water operations. I helped set pumps for de water and well test and inspections. I built metals racks to store all de water pipes and equipment in. I designed and fabricate new gates for access road to Hickory Ridge beach. I installed new fish grinder fish cleaning stations at 5 locations aground Enid lake. I determined what materials I needed for the job based on drawings and blueprints. I laid out plumbing, electrical and poured concrete to make a pad to install fish grinders. I ordered and installed new aeration systems for 3 waste water plants. I repair and maintain potable water systems. I operate ride own and walk behind trenchers to put in new sewer, water, and electrical lines. I use saw to cut out bad sections of road and repack with cold mix asphalt.
As lieutenant at Grenada Fire Department I responded to all types of emergency's from structure fires to automobile extrication. I was responsible for a fire station and an engine company of 3 men. I developed and led in training drills of firefighters on my shift. I transported personnel in a large tandem axle ladder truck carry 500 gallons of water on interstate highway, narrow roads and city streets and on steep and winding grades. I trained on high angle and rope rescue.
I am currently the Fire Chief at the Clear Springs Volunteer Fire Department. I joined my first Volunteer Fire Department in 1986. I am in charge of 2 fire stations and 15 Volunteer Fire Fighters in my community. I do the training for our department as well as teach classes in surrounding counties through the MS State Fire Academy.
