Summary

I have been an Inside Wireman for over 20 years and I have always wanted an opportunity to further my career into the Hydro Industry. My training through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Union Locals 340 and 1245 has helped me gain the industrial work experience that will be very beneficial for this position.

The experience I have gained consists of 12kv Cable Splicer, Crane Operator, Bucket Truck Operator and Motor Control. In addition, my work at PCWA includes maintaining the Lincoln Metering Hydro Station as well as two water pumping stations.

Work History

Electrician for Drinking Water Operations

  • Preventive Maintenance, Testing and Repair of Lincoln Metering Station.
  • Operation and Maintenance of 12kv/4160 substation. Examples include oil samples and breakers.
  • Inspect and test equipment and circuits to identify malfunctions or defects, using wiring diagrams and testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters or ammeters.
  • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems to determine optimum equipment functioning.
  • Notify facility personnel of equipment shutdowns.
  • Prepare and maintain records detailing tests, repairs and maintenance.
  • Run signal quality and connectivity tests for individual cables and record results.
  • Schedule and supervise splicing or termination of cables in color-code order.
  • Maintain inventories of spare parts for all equipment, requisitioning parts as necessary.
  • Interpreted blueprints, schematics and diagrams of project requirements and initiated appropriate electrical installations.
