Dynamic Direct Support Professional with a proven track record at AMHC SJVA, excelling in compassionate caregiving and medication administration. Skilled in behavior redirection and community integration, I fostered independence and enhanced quality of life for clients, achieving significant improvements in client satisfaction and well-being through tailored support and effective communication.
In 2024 I was one of fifteen DSPs in the state of Maine to received DSP of the year.
My boss wrote this for my nomination -
Randy has been employed at St. Valley Associates (SJVA) for 3 years but has the professional maturity of a seasoned DSP that many other DSPs would have had to be in the field much longer to achieve. Randy was a leader for his team throughout the complex implementation process of the merger between SJVA and AMHC that went live on July 1,2023. Right before the official merger several of Randy’s team members tenured their resignation. During this time, the of loss of valued team members, while at the same time adjusting to a new agency, Randy kept his focus on service to SJVA consumers and put his own concerns behind the needs of the service to continue, and for the consumers to benefit from his DSP skills and dedication.
Since the merger of the past 15 months. Randy has stepped up to partner very effectively with the Program Manager and has been a mentor to the new staff hired. Some examples are being a strong voice during team meetings as well as being a bridge between former staff of SJVA that remained and the newness of AMHC leadership, notably the leads involved with SJVA programming.
Randy, stepped up to the plate by increasing his hours. • Ensures assignments are followed through and followed up with. • Readily shares information and resources with colleagues. • Strives to understand diverse perspectives and find common ground. • Recognizes and credits others’ contributions. • Keeps others informed of progress for collaborative input. • Demonstrates flexibility in reaching mutually beneficial agreements. • Respects others’ time by communicating delays and being punctual. • Assists in the integration of new coworkers and their role understanding. • Identifies opportunities for effective coworker collaboration. • Considers multiple viewpoints when evaluating alternatives. • Aids in orienting newcomers to workplace norms and policies. • Takes initiative to maintain positive working relationship
What I would like to say to Randy, Thank you for your dedication and commitment during and after the merger process. Your hard work and achievements are greatly valued and appreciated. As we move forward, I encourage you to continue building on your strengths and addressing areas for improvement. Thank you again for your contributions to our team.
