As an Airport Operations Supervisor, responsibility includes overseeing all aspects of airport operations to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. This pivotal role involves supervising a diverse range of tasks, from ensuring safety and security to optimizing operational processes and enhancing customer experiences.

Primary Responsibility includes:

Safety and Security: Prioritize safety and security throughout the airport properties. Collaborate closely with security teams, law enforcement and regulatory bodies to implement and maintain stringent safety protocols, minimizing risks and ensuring the well-being of passengers, employees, and aircraft.

Operational Efficiency: Continuously assess processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance overall efficiency. This includes airside operations, terminal management, ground services, and baggage handling.

Compliance and Regulations: Ensure strict adherence to aviation regulations, local laws, and international standards. Stay up-to-date with industry changes and proactively implement necessary measures to maintain compliance.

Customer Experience: Collaborate with airline partners and service providers to create a customer-centric environment, ensuring a seamless journey from check-in to departure.

Emergency Response and Contingency Planning: In the event of emergencies or disruptions, lead the airport's response efforts. Develop and test contingency plans, coordinating with relevant authorities and agencies to mitigate potential risks and minimize disruptions.

Resource Management: Oversee staffing levels, equipment deployment, and budget allocation to meet operational demands while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

Stakeholder Relations: Building and nurturing positive relationships with various stakeholders, including airlines, government agencies, vendors, and local communities to ensure smooth operations and foster collaboration.

Guide the strategic direction to maximize community safety and security through policy development and enforcement, programs, strategies, and leadership. Manage operations, strategic initiatives, and critical incident responses. Lead top law enforcement teams handling performance reviews and evaluations. Forecast, develop, and manage divisional budgets.

• Recognized as law enforcement and security thought leader serving on boards, commissions, and committees.
• Selected as Initial Response Incident Commander providing leadership in response to critical incidents.

• As the operations lieutenant for the Real Time Crime Center to oversee a series of endeavors designed to expand the RTCC’s operational capacity
• Developed policies and SOP’s for the Real Time Crime Center and Watch Lieutenant desk, the RTCC Resource Manual, along with multi-stage activity-tracking spreadsheet for permanent and backfill personnel, along with accompanying periodic reports
• Fostered working relationships with other lieutenants in the Real Time Crime Center and outside stakeholders that proved necessary to successfully implement and drive several paradigm shifts in the unit’s operational capabilities (via Citizen Observer Tip Line, ETS and 3Si tracking activation) while maintaining operational continuity and priority-tiered service delivery.

• Oversee Violent Crimes investigations within the Robbery Unit, supervising a task force of 18 Detectives
• Develop strategic, data-based action plans to solve complex investigations within tight time constraints
• Build relationships with other units, local outside law enforcement agencies (e.g., University of Texas Police Department), federal law enforcement agencies (e.g., Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)) as well as individuals and businesses in the City of Austin and beyond
• Developed a highly effective task force by reengineering the entire department from the ground up; let go of under-performing Detectives, then recruited, hired, and coordinated training for an unprecedented 18 new Detectives
• Garnered attention from Travis County law enforcement for the success of the new task force, resulting in a strong relationship and a partnership aimed at sharing practices.

• Conducted thorough investigations of critical incidents involving officers as well as any complaints/allegations on Austin Police Department employees with tact and diplomacy
• Ensured the integrity of the Austin Police Department and the protection of the public, the Department, and its employees by conducting meticulous and investigations into incidents regardless of allegations of misconduct.

• Supervised a team of Officers focused on providing effective police responses to public concerns and ensuring the safety and security of the community
• Oversaw, coordinated, and assigned activities to police officers and investigators
• Led the task force that located and apprehended a “Peeping Tom” and burglary suspects in West Campus by developing a strategic plan, mobilizing resources, and restructuring the team to get out of vehicles and serve neighborhood on foot
• Selected to represent the unit in high-level boards, commissions, and committees.
