Machine Maintenance Technician
SpaceX
10.2020 - Current
Hired on by Arron Ham / Nick lugo as a maintenance technician for the rocket side and worked Along Dusty Powell and the team while Starlink grew enough to need maintenance techs of its own.
Transferred over to Starlink in their first couple months and helped not only repair and maintain but develop fully operational production lines for Versions 1, 1.5, 2, 3, and now Version 4 in Bastrop Texas.
Relocated to Starlink Bastrop June 2023 to a bare building. Legit started in trailers while we got facilities power, air and water. Now a fully functioning building. Assisted in the installation of Engel Injection molding machines, Idra high pressure die-casters, conveyors, Modular cells, ITW reflow ovens, pick and place modules and countless other pieces of equipment.
Primarily focused on SMT/PCBA, Certified in Fuji America Pick and place equipment that produce circuit boards used in our user terminals. NXT modules, GPX printers, and heads. Assisted in the successful installation, commissioning, programing and startup of new Production lines, ensuring proper functionality from day one. 7 full production lines in Hawthorne, 10 full production lines in Bastrop Texas.
Improved machine uptime by performing routine maintenance and identifying potential issues before they became critical. All while Streamlining workflow, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact on overall productivity.
Developed customized preventative maintenance plans tailored to specific machine requirements for optimal performance. Some equipment has needed more attention than it usually would depending on factors like environment, cycle times, temperatures and use.
Coordinated with external vendors as needed for specialized repairs or replacement parts procurement. Sourced my own parts either from the manufacturer themselves or 3rd party part sales.
Upheld company and federal protocols and regulations when operating and fixing machinery. Including working with Environmental Health and Safety directly when needed in case of spills or the disposal of chemicals.
Responded immediately to mechanical breakdowns and developed timely repair plan to minimize downtime. Used Warp for tickets and Work orders and Opsgenie for calls when lines were down.
Provided training to apprentice technicians on equipment operation, safety protocols, and best practices for machine maintenance. The training has been a huge success in creating maintenance techs and PCBA Specialist. Solid track record.
Increased precision of manufactured components by implementing quality control measures and using advanced measuring tools. Enhanced production efficiency by setting up, adjusting, and operating various machines according to specifications.
Not shy to long hours and overtime. 3,452 hours clocked in last year along to make sure that the program was successful. Ran the long hours to keep up with due dates and equipment delivery times since everything was still being moved and installed in the factory.
