I started my Law Enforcement career with the Alton Police Department in 04/02/1984 as a reserve officer then a paid police officer. I worked my way to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Academy, while attending the University of Pan American. After graduating from the academy I began working with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy. I moved my way up as criminal investigator also working in narcotics. In 1992 I worked with several local and out of county attorney’s in the preparation of cases as a private investigator. I then was appointed Chief Deputy with the Hidalgo County Constables Office Precinct 3 under then Constable Luis Zamora. During this time I was in charge of the departments deputies and responsibilities. I managed several paid deputies and 12 reserve deputies and the everyday duties of the office. In July 7, 1994, I was hired with the Mission Police Department. I started on patrol and advanced to Investigations after 6 months. I was assigned to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency as a Task Force Officer. My assignment duties was working federal and state drug cases. I was also assigned to the Mission Police Department SWAT Unit. I worked my way to assistant commander then to commander. I also have an advance swat certification from the Beaumont Sheriff’s Department. I also an SWAT supervisors certificate from the Houston Police Department. I supervised 15 officers, reserve officers and Mission Fire Department personnel that were part of the unit. I was also appointed as Assistant CID Commander under then Sgt J. Larralde. After several years I supervised a total of 12 investigators approving reports and cases being filed with the Hidalgo County District Attorney’s office. Also planning case investigations and arrest of defendants.
Currently I am assigned with the Crime Scene Unit with the Mission Police Department. My current duties are involving the collection of evidence and perpetration for court.
I see Mission as a growing city in these changing and challenging times. I have always been for ethics, integrity, and public service in law enforcement. A victim/citizen should get the full services of the department that is available to them no matter of race, gender, and economic background. There needs to be a fair and equal system to police modern law enforcement. If an officer is accused of wrong doing there should be an impartial investigation and a stern disciplinary action taken.
