SAFETY MANAGER – ELN-03 150 MW DATA CENTER
Served as Safety Manager for the ELN-03 150 MW data center
construction project, providing safety leadership and oversight for the mechanical construction operations. Directly supervised two safety employees and maintained overall safety responsibility for the mechanical group, including pipe fitters, welders, boilermakers, and plumbers, with peak manpower exceeding 400 employees.
- Managed safety operations for the mechanical contractor and provided oversight of six subcontractors supporting the project, including insulation, crane operations, mechanical flush and fill, and multiple specialty contractors.
- Developed, implemented, and enforced site-specific safety policies, procedures, and requirements to maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, client requirements, and company standards.
- Conducted weekly and project-wide all-hands safety meetings, communicating safety expectations, lessons learned, current hazards, and project-specific requirements to a workforce of up to 400+ employees.
- Conducted routine field safety inspections, audits, jobsite observations, and hazard assessments to identify unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions were implemented.
- Led incident investigations, including documentation, employee interviews, evidence collection, causal analysis, and preparation of formal incident reports.
- Performed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and developed corrective and preventive actions following incidents and near misses.
- Presented incident investigations, RCA findings, and corrective action plans during incident review meetings with the client, APLD, and project leadership.
- Coordinated safety requirements and expectations across multiple subcontractors to maintain consistent safety standards throughout the mechanical scope.
- Worked directly with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, client representatives, and craft personnel to resolve safety concerns and address high-risk activities.
- Monitored high-risk mechanical construction activities, including lifting and rigging operations, welding and hot work, pressure testing, piping installation, equipment installation, and mechanical system flush and fill activities.
- Supported planning and execution of work through Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), pre-task planning, toolbox talks, and activity-specific safety procedures.
- Maintained safety documentation, training records, inspection records, incident documentation, corrective actions, and other required compliance records.
- Promoted employee engagement and accountability through proactive hazard identification, safety communication, coaching, and field-level safety leadership.
- Served as a primary safety resource for the mechanical workforce and subcontractors while supporting the project’s overall safety culture and successful completion of construction activities.
