I have had an amazing 25-year career in the field of multimedia. The two things that have defined my career are the insatiable desire to learn and the ability to foresee what needs to be done and do it. Before my career started, I was honored to have served more than 4 years in the US Army and learned the carpentry trade afterwards. I started my multimedia career by adding interactive 3D into the existing Cummins Virtual College (CVC) that was delivered on CD. It was clear to me that the existing CVC had run its course, and it was time to redevelop it. No one else saw it coming, so on my own time, I redeveloped Cummins Virtual College. I prepared for the inevitable expansion of CVC to an online environment. Upon completion in 2005, the redeveloped, web ready CVC was adopted by Cummins. My foresight allowed for the smooth expansion of CVC to online a short time later. Cummins Virtual College Online (CVCOL) has grown to thousands of courses in 37 languages, over four million courses taken a year accounting for tens of millions of hours of training worldwide. During the continued development of CVCOL, I foresaw the need for a more complete learning management system beyond CVCOL. Again, utilizing my own time, I developed Cummins Trainers' Tools, which is an environment that allows Cummins corporate trainers to better interact with their students and the content developers. It has grown over the years and currently hosts dozens of online tools that help Cummins have the best training program in the world. Not only did I foresee the need, but I also had the desire to learn any technology needed to make what was needed happen. While managing and developing CVCOL, I also learned a wide range of technologies to complete various projects on my own and as a member of a team. Projects, such as utilizing the actual controls for a snowplow and a large boat, to control virtual versions of them before simulators were as common as they are now. And, utilizing gaming technology such as Unity to deliver a more comprehensive message for marketing teams. Now, utilizing AI for identification and inspection of remanufacture parts with the power of Keyence VS series camera. I am proud of the fact that I can learn anything that it takes to do the job. I see what is on the horizon and I am preparing myself for the future.
