Essential Functions Of Positions

  • Maintain and restore public order.
  • Perform all duties of a licensed sworn officer.
  • Actively participate in the community and events.
  • Prepare, plan, for and direct extraordinary law enforcement situations.
  • Co-Manage Emergency Management with the Fire Chief, and coordinate and plan to cope with natural and man-made disaster situations.
  • Responsible for the overall investigation of all crimes, traffic accidents and other law enforcement related events reported within the City.
  • Supervise routine police non-emergency activities.
  • Manage, recruit and maintain an active Police Reserve staff.
  • Responsible for coordinating licensing and permits related to the Police Department.
  • Responsible for creating and sustaining a comprehensive program supporting good community relations and crime prevention.
  • Provide for the overall administration of the Police Department, including, planning, staffing, budgeting, organizing, supervising and training of law enforcement personnel to ensure proper delivery of effective law enforcement services.
  • Utilize current technology for efficiency.
  • Receive, respond and resolve complaints from the public.
  • Prepare reports and other material as necessary. Investigate all crimes which occur within jurisdiction.
  • Provide public transparency.
  • Establish and update Department operational plans and goals.
  • Keep current on government regulations/legislative changes pertinent to departmental operations. Enforces Federal, State, and City laws and ordinances.
  • Testify on cases in court.
  • Maintain proper law enforcement records.
  • Function as an integral part of the City management team.
  • Keep the City Manager apprised of relevant Department activities. Communicate and report to City Manager while keeping appropriate public officials and departmental personnel informed to pertinent areas. Report status of progress towards achieving departmental goals to City Manager.
  • Prepare and administer Department budget.
  • Establish objectives for subordinates in accordance with the City Manager’s priorities and directive and ensure effective resource utilization in all police operations.
  • Review and evaluate all phases of Department operations.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other law enforcement agencies.
  • Develop rapport with members of the community as well as surrounding areas, and establish partnerships with community organizations, residents and business owners to develop and implement crime prevention strategies.
  • Project a positive, public service image by promoting cooperative relations between police employees, other City departments, community service groups and other governmental units.
  • Identify technologies and other innovations to assist with building relationships and delivery of community policing services and meeting Department objectives.
  • Ensure all Department equipment and vehicles are properly maintained and utilized.
  • Provide assistance to the public in emergency and non-emergency situations, including but not limited to: administering first aid and requests appropriate medical response; performing crisis intervention in sensitive situations and domestic disputes; educating the public on laws and ordinances; assisting citizens with complaints and inquiries and directing them to the appropriate authority; and responding to complaints related to loitering, noise, animals, etc.
  • Manage the purchase, maintenance, and use of equipment and facilitate to match public safety problems.
  • Mediate conflict within the department and investigate grievances and complaints to resolve conflicts between the department and outside groups.
  • Discipline employees whose performance/conduct/actions/ are inconsistent with sound law enforcement practices and/or Department policies, procedures, rules, regulations, orders, and Department memoranda, using verbal or written reprimands, suspensions and recommendations for discharge.

Essential Functions Of Positions

  • Maintain and restore public order.
  • Perform all duties of a licensed sworn officer.
  • Actively participate in the community and events.
  • Prepare, plan, for and direct extraordinary law enforcement situations.
  • Co-Manage Emergency Management with the Fire Chief, and coordinate and plan to cope with natural and man-made disaster situations.
  • Responsible for the overall investigation of all crimes, traffic accidents and other law enforcement related events reported within the City.
  • Supervise routine police non-emergency activities.
  • Manage, recruit and maintain an active Police Reserve staff.
  • Responsible for coordinating licensing and permits related to the Police Department.
  • Responsible for creating and sustaining a comprehensive program supporting good community relations and crime prevention.
  • Provide for the overall administration of the Police Department, including, planning, staffing, budgeting, organizing, supervising and training of law enforcement personnel to ensure proper delivery of effective law enforcement services.
  • Utilize current technology for efficiency.
  • Receive, respond and resolve complaints from the public.
  • Prepare reports and other material as necessary. Investigate all crimes which occur within jurisdiction.
  • Provide public transparency.
  • Establish and update Department operational plans and goals.
  • Keep current on government regulations/legislative changes pertinent to departmental operations. Enforces Federal, State, and City laws and ordinances.
  • Testify on cases in court.
  • Maintain proper law enforcement records.
  • Function as an integral part of the City management team.
  • Keep the City Manager apprised of relevant Department activities. Communicate and report to City Manager while keeping appropriate public officials and departmental personnel informed to pertinent areas. Report status of progress towards achieving departmental goals to City Manager.
  • Prepare and administer Department budget.
  • Establish objectives for subordinates in accordance with the City Manager’s priorities and directive and ensure effective resource utilization in all police operations.
  • Review and evaluate all phases of Department operations.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other law enforcement agencies.
  • Develop rapport with members of the community as well as surrounding areas, and establish partnerships with community organizations, residents and business owners to develop and implement crime prevention strategies.
  • Project a positive, public service image by promoting cooperative relations between police employees, other City departments, community service groups and other governmental units.
  • Identify technologies and other innovations to assist with building relationships and delivery of community policing services and meeting Department objectives.
  • Ensure all Department equipment and vehicles are properly maintained and utilized.
  • Provide assistance to the public in emergency and non-emergency situations, including but not limited to: administering first aid and requests appropriate medical response; performing crisis intervention in sensitive situations and domestic disputes; educating the public on laws and ordinances; assisting citizens with complaints and inquiries and directing them to the appropriate authority; and responding to complaints related to loitering, noise, animals, etc.
  • Manage the purchase, maintenance, and use of equipment and facilitate to match public safety problems.
  • Mediate conflict within the department and investigate grievances and complaints to resolve conflicts between the department and outside groups.
  • Discipline employees whose performance/conduct/actions/ are inconsistent with sound law enforcement practices and/or Department policies, procedures, rules, regulations, orders, and Department memoranda, using verbal or written reprimands, suspensions and recommendations for discharge.
  • Use professionalism in responding to citizen calls and applying corrective solutions to the respected situation.
  • Ensure effective Field Training Officer strategies developed within the organization to promote a quality selection of candidates and build a strong Field Training Officer program.
  • Dedicated to building strong relationships within the organization as well as with the community through the process of Community Oriented Policing.
  • Experience as law enforcement professional.
