Additional Information

  • Taught 6th grade students in San Miguel, Mexico, helping them to develop English skills over a two- week period. The English alphabet, grammar, and common vocabulary terms were taught. Song and play, as well as verbal tests encouraged comprehension of the English language. Many students were thrilled to learn and maintain an English notebook, for information retention and future conversations.
  • Participating in the Global Missions Ministry at Berean Christian Church allowed me to travel to Kumuli, Uganda and interact with orphaned children who were lacking age appropriate literacy materials. During our 12 day mission trip, the Education and Curriculum Team supplied the orphanage with core curriculum books and tools to improve English and math skills. We were able to use a vacant room at the orphanage and create an environment conducive for reading. Time spent consisted of painting bookshelves, organizing materials according to level/ ability, and providing useful knowledge on education and curriculum. In addition, team members gathered children and introduced new mentally and physically stimulating activities. To collaborate with the team and partake in this endeavor was undeniably fulfilling
