Being a person deeply rooted in community-based work, I strive to support all birthing families with adequate education, autonomy, and empathy. As a BIPOC person and a member of the LGBTQ+2IA community, supporting families with culturally appropriate and non-judgmental care is of the utmost importance to me. I aspire to be a safe and supportive ally to my community, sharing the birth workers' ability to provide care in an empowering and meaningful way. My goal is to support all types of families throughout all stages of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.
Developed an informative and evidence-based doula curriculum to educate and support families with substance use disorders, to coincide with the current State of Alaska Doula Curriculum, and to be added to trainings and throughout Alaska.
Worked alongside Comagine, the University of Alaska, and DHS to create an Alaska Perinatal Care Training-Patient Centered Maternity Care: Understanding and Responding to the Unique Needs of Perinatal Women with Substance Use Disorder, focused on educating healthcare providers in supporting patients impacted by perinatal substance use disorder. My part was primarily sharing real-life experiences of helping families with SUD.
