For the past 15 years I have:

• Used my knowledge of pharmacy and Medicare prescription drug plans to educate customers on the best options available for the coming year.
• Established trust with customers by providing transparent communication regarding policy costs, coverages, and exclusions, annually reviewing their policies, and recommending adjustments as needed to maintain optimal coverage and save money.

In 2023 I chose to become a licensed insurance agent in order to further my professional education, diversify my career, and continue to help my customers make an educated decision about their prescription drug plans. I formed an LLC and founded the Matthewson Life & Health insurance agency. I will attend continuing education courses and workshops to gain additional insurance industry knowledge and expand the services of the agency in the hopes of business growth.

• Supervise the operation of the health district pharmacy, working with a team of nurses, providing guidance and training to ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory compliance while providing health care services to the community.
• Monitor medication inventory and dispensing records, ensuring compliance with state regulations and preventing diversion or misuse.
• Provide critical support during public health emergencies, ensuring uninterrupted access to essential health care services.

Prior to selling our retail prescription files to Walgreens:

• Managed high volume of prescriptions daily while maintaining excellent customer service and attention to detail.
• Collaborated with co-owner on strategic planning initiatives for long-term business success.
• Assisted in the development of policies and procedures related to pharmacy operations, promoting compliance with legal regulations and best practices.
• Oversaw financial management tasks, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow optimization.
• Monitored ordering of pharmacy medication stock to maintain streamlined inventory and low overhead.
• Conducted regular audits of the pharmacy''s controlled substances inventory, ensuring accurate record-keeping and preventing diversion or theft.

In addition, organized and implemented a mobile immunization program providing flu, pneumonia, shingles, and Covid vaccinations to area businesses, schools, and long-term care facilities to ensure their staff and residents were protected from contagious viruses and diseases.

• Annually offered free assistance to customers during the Medicare Open Enrollment period to explain the new prescription drug plans for the upcoming year, and assisted them with enrollment if needed.

Our pharmacy has remained open for business continuing to offer our specialty pharmacy services; compounding, institutional and long-term care, and hospice. When not on duty at Walgreens, I continue to collaborate with the co-owner and staff to cultivate continued growth of this pharmacy business within our community.
