  • 35 bed medical-surgical unit, 12 beds dedicated for orthopedic patients, high volume admissions (10+) daily and discharges
  • Charge Nurse when assigned Receive patients from PACU and/or Emergency Department, orient patients to the unit
  • Monitor post-op vital signs review all orders, educate patient regarding plan of care during their stay
  • Delegating appropriate tasks to nursing assistants and volunteers
  • Educate patient according to specific surgical procedure and/or injury they presented with
  • Assess and document all medications, treatments, discharge instructions and teaching during shift
  • Pain management including multimodal analgesics, position changes, ambulation, and ice therapy
