Summary
I have been passionate about reading and writing since I was a child. I would lose myself in the great pieces of literature from; Edgar Allen Poe, Jane Austen and Maya Angelou. As a young adult, I wrote essays and received scholarships for my writing. As an educator in Urban and Title 1 schools; I shared my passion for literacy with my students and my peers. I am also an advocate for a strong foundation in phonics and phonemic awareness all the way into High School. I still see the need for these skills and basic usage of grammar and sentence structure in Middle and High School.
Most recently, I have been teaching Hands-on Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher, exposing students to real-life skills such as cooking, budgeting and sewing. In-depth knowledge of consumer and home-based activities. Skillful in assessing student abilities, developing innovative lesson plans and offering constructive feedback. Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google Suite.
