- Research student for a year, and worked with a traumatic brain injury model in adult zebrafish to identify neurogenesis mechanisms.
- Helped track analysis and organization of previous research done with the model, and furthered the findings with new tissue.
- I hope to continue developing my research skills and knowledge to one day run my own lab looking at traumatic brain injury in the human brain.
- Helped with lesioning the Zebrafish used to create new tissue for further analysis.
- Dissected out brain tissue as well as olfactory epithelium.
- Processed and embedded tissue in paraffin wax to prepare it for sectioning onto slides.
- Stained sectioned tissue using immunohistochemistry techniques involving secondary and primary antibodies.
- Used confocal microscope to image stained tissue that would be used for analysis.
- Analyzed images and organized data into a spreadsheet to later run statistics on.
- Used Prism to run statistics and create graphs of data collected.
