• Assesses Veteran health records to assure medical necessity of specialty referrals using both clinical experience and MCG decision tools. Assists Veterans in scheduling appointments, identifying barriers to appointment attendance and facilitating solutions to remove those barriers. Wrote research supported psychoeducational documents for mental healthcare website. Reviewed documents written by other staff to ensure clinical relevance and appropriateness. Created scripts for animated, educational role plays demonstrating mental health symptoms and effective interventions.

Evaluated patients for the purpose of assigning a psychiatric diagnosis, providing psycho education and, if indicated, prescribing psychotropic medications. Monitored vital signs, laboratory and electrocardiogram results of patients as per guidelines of the American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and American Diabetes Association. Collaborated with therapists to create evidenced based treatment plans for mutual patients.

Assessed, planned and fulfilled nursing care needs of patients of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Worked with a physician, medical assistant and receptionist to collaboratively manage and meet acute and chronic health needs of 900 patients.

• Provided nursing care to laboring women and infants through labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum inpatient stays. Prepared families for discharge home with newborns.
