
I am an experienced Reading Specialist well-versed in developing individual and group instructional plans to improve reading skills in elementary-aged students. I am certified as an Elementary Education teacher grades K-6. a Reading Specialist grades K-12. and a Special Education teacher grades K-12. I can offer over 19 years of related experience to this challenging new position. In addition to teaching experience, I also have extensive experience in providing literacy-related staff development and have presented at the ISP conference and developed and taught a 3 credit course for Gannon University.
I provided teacher training in an Orton Gillingham approach to teaching reading and spelling. I have also presented on topics such as Visual Teaching Strategies (VTS), Common Core, and other literacy-related topics. In 2019 I presented at the ISP (Improving School Performance) conference in Pittsburgh. In addition, I co-planned and taught a 3 credit course for Gannon University entitled PA Core: ELA Practices that Work across the Curriculum.
