I began my nursing career as a cardiac PCU nurse after completing a comprehensive new-grad program. After two years of honing my clinical skills, I applied to work in labor and delivery, and landed my dream job at St. Joseph Medical Center, on the Family Birthing Unit. I had no idea what I was getting into! I completed my four months of training to provide hands-on care and support for women delivering vaginally and by C-section. I have had quite a range of experiences, from attending the delivery of a healthy, laboring mother to helping to facilitate a crash c-section as the heart tones are tanking. I am passionate about the care I provide, and I love the special role I play in curating an experience that will be the single most important day in a woman’s life, as well as advocating for the physical and emotional well-being of my patients. I have been blessed to work with an amazing team of collaborative providers, and I hope to bring all that I have learned so far into my next nursing adventure.
