As the PMHNP, I am providing psychiatric care to incarcerated individuals with a combination of psych evaluations and follow ups for mental health care and medication management. In addition to the outpatient inmates being seen, I am responsible for rounding on individuals placed on SHOS (self harm observation status) or MHOS (mental health observation status) who may be a potential threat to themselves or others and determining admission or discharge from the compound infirmary. On average, I am seeing 15 patients in an 8 hour day.

Responsible for Psychiatric and Medical evaluation, treatment planning with designated treatment team, care management and discharge planning for involuntary court ordered patients on a 29 bed adult unit. The population predominately consisted of the severely mentally ill including individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder.
-Documented observations, interventions and concerns in patient charts and electronic systems, sustaining continuum of care from admission through to discharge
