  • Basic Function:
    - to facilitate transport of patient samples from Hospital wards to the Laboratory department for
    processing.
    Principal Duties:
    • transport of specimen from all hospital wards locations ER, ICU, and OPD areas, to the Main
    Laboratory.
    • Transport samples from Operating Room to Anatomic Pathology Reception during working
    hours.
    • Transport prepared blood and blood products from donor center to the main lab transfusion
    medicine Laboratory.
    • Transport samples from Respiratory Laboratory to the main lab reception.
    • To assist in sorting specimens and urine/stool transport to main lab back up to the pneumatic
    tube system.
    • To assist lab store keeper with lab supplies distribution to wards and back up duties for
    hazardous waste disposal from laboratory to designated disposal medical waste location.
    • ensure documenting for samples picked up from wards location and registering the same in
    the sample manifest log in the main lab reception.
    • ensure safety practice and use of personal protective equipment during specimen transport.
    • perform additional tasks as deemed necessary by the laboratory Management.
    LIS clerk duties:
    • Performs the various tasks required with receiving, processing, reporting and delivering
    laboratory test results and other lab reports as they are completed in the department and/or
    received from reference laboratories.
    • capable of handling numerous telephone calls simultaneously w/c includes reports and
    requests w/ regards to the ff:
    a. Receipt and dispatch of orders for specimen collection for testing.
    b. Request for patient reports/ test results
    c. Verification of patient orders
    d. Types or encode lab requisition as required.
    e. Performs other duties as requested by the Lab office or Lab manager.
    f. Accuracy and efficiency w/ which all assignments are completed.
    g. Organize work for effective, utilization of time
    h. Observes confidentiality both with patient information and co-workers.
  • i. Capable of performing a variety of tasks w/in the scope of job duties.
    j. Receives and answer phone orders with regards to lab testing from physicians, nurses, unit
    clerks.
    k. As phone orders from lab test received they are prioritized according to need (STAT. ASAP,
    routing) and efficiently routed to phlebotomy team or out patient clerks.
  • Recorded and analyzed data to produce reports of results.
