My task is to monitor our designated spots, and to observe and report any suspicious activity within our assigned areas. I work alongside Border Patrol agents and the Texas Department of Public Safety by doing brush clearance in the Rio Grande, reconnaissance, and stopping illegal crossings. The main directive for me is to deter, prevent, and interdict illegal border crossings. Anyone that I find trying to cross illegally is stopped and then turned around to enter at the nearest point of entry. I have been trained in the swift water training course to help and secure any migrant who has crossed and fallen into the river, and return them to shore safely. With the training on the Pepper Ball Launcher, I have been authorized to use non-lethal force if necessary to handle any unruly crowd that tries to push past barricades and disobey the orders of law enforcement. I can say that the efforts of my team, and working alongside fellow law enforcement, allowed us to lower the rates of illegal crossings and to turn them back to the proper points of entry.
I was in the Boy Scouts of America for ten years of my child hood life I have received my eagle scouts honor at the age of twelve which qualifies me to be one of the youngest recipients of this award.
