Over a 40-year career with New York City government, I worked at many different agencies: Human Resources, Budget, Personnel, General Services, and Youth and Community Development. I entered NYC service after college graduation and stayed with the government until I retired, 40 years later. I started in 1977 as a Human Resources Agency (HRA) Project Manager; in 1981, I moved to the NYC Budget Office as a Budget and Finance Analyst; in 1985, I returned to HRA as a Personnel Specialist. In 1992, I moved to the NYC Department of Personnel as a Senior Analyst; In 1999, I moved to the Department of General Services as a Contract Compliance Officer. In 2002, I moved to the Department of Youth and Community Development, where I worked as the Deputy Commissioner for Administration, overseeing the offices of Budget and Finance, Personnel, Facility Management, Procurement, and Information and Technology. In 2015, I became the Chief of Staff at DYCD, overseeing a $500 million budget, and was responsible for 600 employees.
