As an intern, I did whatever might've needed to be done by our full time staff. I helped prepare our cabins and other facilities for retreats. I helped renovate our climbing wall by removing and cleaning the holds, painting the wall and holds and replacing them in new routes. I also helped assist the Maintenance Director with any repairs or grounds maintenance that was equipped to assist with. I also took turns running and working retreats on weekends with my other interns. That involved communicating with the group leader, giving them anything they need. I was responsible for working with the kitchen on getting food made and served well and on time. I also helped run any activities the group might request, and fixing any problems, maintenance or otherwise that might come up during their stay.
During these summers, I held a variety of different positions. In 2020, I was the Target Sports Program Specialist. I was in charge of making sure our Archery, Riflery, and Golfing Classes had everything hey needed and were equipped to teach the campers an informative and entertaining class. I also provided feedback to my counselors. I was also responsible for helping set up our daily games, running free skill sign ups, and any other various tasks that came up through out the day. In 2021, I was Assistant Program Director. I worked along side the program director and helped run our summer programming. I was directly over the program specialists and helped make sure they were equipping their classes well. I was responsible for any store runs to grab supplies and ordering the bulk of our class materials. I ran the majority of the daily games and helped with daily tasks. I briefly ran the entirety of camp program that summer while the Program Director was away for the birth of his child. In 2022, I was the Older Guys Head Counselor. This put me directly over around 8 counselors and gave me shared responsibility for the rest of them with my fellow head counselor. I was in charge of helping equip them to take care of the kids in their cabins, as well as making sure they were all meeting our standards in the process. I helped take care of any of the more difficult campers and any unusual circumstances that may take place. I was responsible for making sure all of my counselors wrote letters to their campers parents and ensured they were of good quality and punctual. I also gave formal and informal performance evaluations throughout the summer.
I was the opening Order Fulfillment Associate and that meant I was responsible for checking all of the orders scheduled to go out that day and getting it ready to go out. I was also responsible for pulling the next days orders and any same day orders that may be placed. I was also a fully licensed equipment driver and that meant I was responsible for answering any equipment calls that may come from other departments. I maintained good relationships with our pro customers and any other regular customers who place regular orders and made sure all orders were pulled and ready to go out punctually and professionally.
I was in charge of retrieving and organizing all of the various types of shopping carts and making sure they were available for customer needs. I also was responsible for making sure I was available to help any customers that made need help loading their vehicles at any of the three loading zones. I was also available to maintain store cleanliness by blowing off the store parking lot and taking out the trash when necessary.
I worked as a summer camp counselor for three summers and had various responsibilities. The first two summers, I was in charge of the youngest cabin, which had ages of 6-10. The third summer, I had the oldest campers, that were ages 14-16. I was in charge of making sure they were on time for all meals and activities. I was also responsible for maintaining a safe and fun environment for all of my campers and making sure they had everything they need to have fun and be safe. As a counselor, I was also in charge of teaching classes. I was responsible for planning a detailed curriculum and teaching that to 10-12 campers each class period. My last summer as a counselor, I was also a team leader. I was in charge of on of our 2 teams at camp and that meant I was responsible for writing team cheers and making sure all of our team's campers and counselors acting respectfully towards the other team and played the games correctly and had has much fun as possible
