Kings Camps
Stirling
07.2025 - 08.2025

After completing another few weeks of coaching during the season i undertook another managing contract this time at the prestigious Dollar Academy:

During this camp there were great challenges to overcome to deliver a successful project and lead a working program that ensure maximum engagement, participation and enjoyment from the children on camp aswell as all staff. To do this i had to:

  • Navigated challenging weather conditions, ensuring continuity of planned activities without compromising safety and also navigating issues with conflicting camps on site.
  • Resolved conflicts amongst camp staff, fostering a harmonious working environment.
  • Liaised effectively with parents and guardians to discuss child progress and concerns, which can be a difficult process as some parents can become confrontational.
  • Led a successful program week to week ensuring all children were having fun, safe on camp and engaged in that weeks themes and their groups.
  • Created all child groupings, programs led by coaches each week and handled all admin for the camp- child reporting, staff evaluations and day to day co-ordination with head office and on site staff.
  • Built relationships with childen and staff through excellent communication, which is sometimes a tougher experience as manager as you get less time with them.
  • Acted professionally and responsibly to demonstrate core camp values and show the values and beliefs of Kings Camps.

Camp manager

Kings Camps
Dundee & Edinburgh
04.2025 - 04.2025

After years of hardwork i was rewarded with a promotion to camp manager of one of the camps in easter running in Dundee and then a second in Edinburgh the next week:

  • During these weeks i had to create a program for the staff to coach to that ensured fun and safe environments and sessions for all involved.
  • Throughout i also had to resolve conflicts between stakeholders aswell as behaviour management to handle staffing issues.
  • I co-oridnated all logistics and organised whole camp events in co-ordination with the venue and all parents to ensure maximum engagement.
  • Managed staffing levels to ensure optimal performance from all and then conducted staff reviews on each week to provide feedback and a scoring system inline with company policy.
  • Ensured safety of all campers with thorough risk assessments and strict adherence to guidelines.
  • Fostered a positive, inclusive environment for diverse groups of children on camp who would have struggled in some more mainstream camps, without the dedication and support provided on site.

Sports coach for children

Kings Camps
Hereford, Herefordshire
08.2024 - 08.2024

After completing work at Jordanhill, I was requested for a contract at Hereford in England. This camp again strengthened my coaching awareness, harnessed my strengths, and addressed personal weaknesses to allow progression of myself. Again, this was reflected in another Coach of the Week reward, as well as achieving a Camp of the Year award for the entire country during the camp.

Throughout this camp, I coached only the youngest, more challenging children, and inspired good sportsmanship and adherence to the official rulebook, while showcasing the Kings Factor to teach the children core values of the organisation.

I also developed a skill of my own in showing patience and trust to build confidence of players by offering individual praise and recognising progress and achievements. This then Motivated individuals and groups to achieve positive results against set goals.

Video Performance Analyst

Rangers Football Club
Glasgow, Glasgow
01.2024 - 08.2024
  • Throughout this work placement, i had to maintain high working standards in a fast paced environment that comes with an intense high pressure due to the nature of the club.
  • Roles within the work placement included training on usage of VEO cameras, this then led to autonomy in using the VEO cameras to capture footage of all home games and festivals. This footage was then collated and uploaded to a server.
  • Communication was then key with the 2 coaches to get after thoughts of game and key aspects they wanted extracted to address during team meeting at next session.
  • All of the footage was then coded to Rangers code window software with the use of HUDL, the entire games were coded and then collated to individual playlists for set actions within the game e.g builds from the back, attacking 1vs1's. This footage was then shared with the coaches to utilise in their next team meeting to address concerns and reinforce positives.
  • This placement enhanced my ability to work in a quick responsive manner, adapting to different evolving environments and circumstances.
  • Generated key performance reporting to enhance insight and make improvement recommendations for coaches to discuss in team meetings e.g. struggling to deal with overload on wing as press is poor and team have successfully outplayed.
  • Worked with stakeholders to identify needs and drive project delivery within specified constraints.

Sports coach for children

Kings Camps
Glasgow , Glasgow City
07.2024 - 07.2024

Similar to previous kings' work, I was hired to work at the Jordanhill camp. During this time, there was a massive growth in confidence and ability on display while coaching, which resulted in the camp receiving Team of the Week and myself receiving two Coach of the Week awards within the camp.

As well as this, I believe I strengthened connections and demonstrated specific skills and techniques, providing time for controlled practice, improving all children who attended.

In addition, I adapted my coaching style depending on the needs and abilities of different teams and individuals, as I was required to change coaching groups throughout the contract to suit the needs of other coaches, and complete targets set by managers throughout.

Sports Coach for Children

Kings Camp
Glasgow, GLG
04.2024 - 04.2024
  • Completed a week's camp again for kings camp this time expanding my expertise to coach the K1 group- 5 year olds. This was a new experience for myself that came with struggles, however i adapted and overcame through extensive research to prepare myself. Within this placement I :
  • Delivered lessons with enthusiasm and positivity to inspire students to consistently improve.
  • Managed behavioural challenges to reduce disruption to training sessions.
  • Promoted safety and welfare of young children by following safeguarding principles- and utilising space and following first aid protocols.
  • Motivated and inspired children to participate and excel in all activities, resulting in greater levels of child participation and overall session enjoyment.
  • Consistently applied effective, innovative coaching methods to meet and exceed team needs.
  • Confidently adapted sessions based on availability of resources and weather conditions.
  • Planned for correct child-to-staff ratios at all times- kings had strict ratios of 1 coach to 8 children, this always had to be maintained and adhered to.

Sports Coach for Children

Kings Camp
Glasgow, Glasgow City
06.2023 - 07.2023
  • I Worked for Kings camps at a 3 week summer camp that was ran at Jordanhill complex. Throughout this 3 weeks i coached over 60 kids between the specific ages of 10-14 during sessions, outwith the sessions i helped take charge of over 130 kids for large group activities and maintained control of the group through challenging behavioural issues.
  • Throughout the weeks i created a timetable for the age group i led, planned, prepared and delivered sessions from 9-4 each day that provided an extreme variety of different sports and activities and brought the children out of their comfort zone to develop themselves as people and build trait skills.
  • Demonstrated specific skills and techniques, providing time for controlled practice. This was done through extensive research each night while making the timetable for the next day to ensure all practices were teaching safe techniques.
  • Tailored sessions to provide physical challenge to individuals with varying abilities. One of the biggest aspects was the mixed ability so the sessions had to challenge those adapted to sports and those there to enhance their people skills first.
  • Instilled sense of commitment, drive and responsibility in young people by allowing them the opportunities to lead games and develop bits of a session to allow peer learning and leaders to step up.
  • Promoted safety and welfare of young children by following safeguarding principles.
  • Developed trusted rapport with individuals to understand strengths, weaknesses and motivations, this was key as the groups changed each week and a new set of kids came in, so it was vital to do this to understand the group i was coaching.

Volunteer Coach

Pollok Utd
Glasgow, Glasgow Council
09.2022 - 06.2023
  • I volunteered with Pollok Utd for a calendar year as part of my HND work placement module, this provided vital experience in the world of football and while chaotic it taught a lot:
  • Throughout the year i created sessions for each week that guaranteed player safety by following SFA guidelines while still maximising fun each week with sessions that enhanced the players skill acquisition and learning on the pitch.
  • Aswell as creating a macrocylce program that all the sessions linked to the players skills were developed by completing individual development plans. This focused on creating relationships with the players, getting their feedback on what they wanted to improve, what they thought they excelled at etc. This allowed us to set targets for the players in sessions and matches.
  • Throughout the year the delivery of sessions provided vital on the pitch learning that enhanced my skills, it threw me into the chaotic nature of football and forced me to coach on the fly and enhanced my problem solving skills.
  • One thing that was vital when coaching the team was to nurture cohesive teams using motivational and team-building strategies, this was key as when i took over the squad there was a mix of different teams with overcrowded numbers.
  • Managed behavioural challenges to reduce disruption to training sessions.
  • Adapted coaching style depending on needs and abilities of different teams and individuals.
