Since coming on board at Nature Fresh Farms, I have been in charge of running the day to day operations on a 3500 acre farm in Holtville, Ca. 92250. This includes executing planting schedules for seasonal vegetable crops, monitoring crop growth, identify pest and disease issues, and implementing effective control methods. I am well-versed in the implementation sustainable farming practices, including crop rotation and the use of organic methods. In addition, it is my responsibility to ensure compliance with local agricultural regulations and certifications, and to work closely with food safety to ensure compliance.
As the only point of contact for Nature Fresh Farms here in the Imperial Valley, it is also my responsibility to maintain positive working relationships with land owners ensuring positive landlord/lessee relationships.
While at V & V Farms, I demonstrated a proven leadership and crew-management abilities, an aptitude for good record-keeping skills, and the ability to coordinate with irrigation equipment suppliers and service contractors for large repairs, upgrades, or system expansions. I worked closely with the farm manager/owner to align irrigations with fertilizer applications, pest-control measures, and harvest timing. My day-to day responsibilities included the following:
* Review irrigation plans (overhead sprinklers, flood irrigation) and ensure correct installation according to field maps.
* Develop and maintain seasonal and daily irrigation schedules based on crop growth stage, soil moisture data, and weather forecasts.
* Supervise irrigation technicians and seasonal laborers—assign daily tasks, balance workloads, and enforce safety protocols.
