  • Company Overview: U of M Health System
  • Under general direction, contractor for the MDHHS, I monitor newborn testing for Congenital Hypothyroidism, Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, and Cystic Fibrosis, XALD and SMA
  • Responsibilities include reporting all abnormal screen levels as soon as possible after birth to ensure prompt clinical and laboratory testing in order to establish diagnosis without delay
  • I notify physicians, hospital personnel and parents of abnormal test results and refer patients to the appropriate specialty center according to the disease
  • I assist with the collection and entry of Congenital Hypothyroidism Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia and Cystic Fibrosis data entry that is entered into a state database
  • I provide support and re-education of physicians in the proper screening and follow-up of children with true positive diagnosis for Congenital Hypothyroidism, Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia and Cystic Fibrosis, XALD and SMA
  • I attend and provide follow-up information about specific infants with the Pediatric Endocrine Advisory Committee members if asked to do so during quarterly meetings
