Five Year Goals: I will be working over the next four years to obtain my undergraduate degree in Psychology. When I finish college I will be working towards my PhD in Disaster Response Psychology. I will continue to sing at church and anytime I am asked to share my singing ability in public. Five to Ten Year Goals: From there I will keep my options open while continuing to volunteer for causes I find enrich the community. I will continue to advocate for mental health. My most current volunteering community service includes the completion of my Girl Scout Gold Award. My project entailed 80 hours of planning, organizing and implementing a project on mental health. I repurposed railroad boxes where I painted and put inspirational quotes. I placed the boxes on the Meridian Bridge: two on the South Dakota side and one on the Nebraska side. I worked with the Lewis and Clark Mental Health Center to sustain my project along with the high school mental health group, Bring Change to Mind both supplying and refilling the boxes. I also included free to take Zoe Pregnancy Care, Riverside Domestic Violence trauma care, 211 helpline resources, suicide, alcohol & drug abuse, crisis care resources and the 988 phone number are available in the boxes. I also hung the English and Spanish 988 plaques in all the parks around Yankton with QR codes for easy access for people in need. I was on KIVT to promote my project to the community. This project was incredibly important when in the state of South Dakota suicide was the tenth leading cause of death in 2023. My project taught me to be a stronger leader, help to stay organized, and how to bring many people together to improve awareness for mental health. This will help with my short and long term goals in acting as well as broadcasting to meet my deadlines. I believe this will be beneficial to the community as my strong passion for mental health will be available to all.
I received my Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards.
