  • As part of the Intellectual Property (IP) Legal Team, I provide legal research and support for numerous constituencies within the studio, including: (i) all segments of the Legal Department; (ii) Sales (all areas) (iii) Sales Admin. (Linear TV and transactional); (iv) Marketing (PHE); and (v) Finance-domestically and internationally. Cognos Ad-hoc Query tools are used to mind data in PRISM.
  • Review drafts of legal documentation to update and maintain the Rights Tracking Report on current titles with rights in negotiation, TV series with ongoing seasons, and acquisition titles of output agreements. Update frequently in SharePoint and Excel and email to employees weekly. Update in PRISM for titles with product numbers.
  • Review marketing rights and Restriction Clearances; investigate restrictions conflicting or limiting potential licenses requested by and for Sales and Sales Administration. This requires historical review of restrictions in hard-copy files and PRISM. In addition, review the deals/licenses in Collective Rights Management (CRM).
  • Review Restriction Clearances and investigate restrictions to update and maintain the Rights Tracking Report on current titles with rights in negotiations, TV series with ongoing season, and acquisition titles that are part of output agreements. Review talent agreements, marketing restriction memos and paid ad memos.
  • Maintain and update various products group within PRISM. Examples are the Musically Clear Product Group and the Product Placement Group, upon updates from Music Legal and various business units, respectively.
  • Enter and update rights and restrictions of titles for all product types in PRISM and MIDAS. This requires review of supporting legal documents for rights entry on new titles in systems, for produced and acquired titles alike.
  • Track titles in PRISM with distribution terms or sub-distribution deals with recoupment provisions, as it relates to Contract Accounting and Compliance & Controls.
  • As part of the IP Legal Team, I'm responsible for maximizing Paramount's copyright royalty revenue through the administration of: Cable & Satellite Retransmission royalties; Private Copy levies; Rental & Video-cassette Music levies; Box Office levies; Public Performance levies; and Educational levies.
  • Conduct Financial Tracking and Tax Filing, requiring the following duties: track royalties received and maintain a year end Royalty Claims Report distributed to Sr. Management; provide Finance with statements/by-title for product allocations; and coordinate with the Tax department for various tax forms for each country required by the copyright management organizations (CMOs).
  • Use of the following systems and tools to support the various copyright management organizations (CMOs) business processes: PRISM; GPS; VNM Analytics; OnSet; and PRAS Legacy database.
  • Registers titles with new CMOs with updates made on a regular basis for newly released and acquired products with varying levels of information including, but not limited to, detailed product attributes, distribution rights and licensing information.
  • Create an ISAN (International Standard Audiovisual Number) for each and every title registration required by ANGOA (France & Africa) prior to royalty distribution, and prior to review by both Labor Relations and Product Production & Fulfillment (for Blu-ray and HDDVD standards).
