Work History

Facilities 2

Bayside Covenant Church
Roseville, California
12.2019 - Current

Experience here at Workchurch includes:

  • Set up and tear down for all events, hauling tables, chairs, signs, sign holders, tablecloths, stanchions, etc., working from various work order systems (and when needed, by lore, word of mouth, "Hey Byron, can you...?", etc....)
  • Janitorial services (sweep, mop, vacuum, clean restrooms, handle trash, other duties as assigned, more of those, anything else I can find, and then...if I must... windows.)
  • General plumbing, electrical, repairs of doors & locks, various hardware and cabinetry, lights replacement, forklift and scissor lift operation, light maintenance & repair of equipment (including creation, implementation & management of vacuum PM system.)

Multiple

Various
Glendale, CA
05.1975 - 12.2019
  • Prior to being offered employment at Bayside, I held many positions in many companies, most significant to me being the three years I spent just before that with Randy Peters Catering (a well known and highly-praised name in Sacramento!) Working as server- and soon Captain - I learned to live the principle of working with a servant's heart, which ultimately led me back to my Father.
  • In the decades previous, I worked in fast food, fine dining, apartment management, railroad dining car food service, security (rent-a-cop and hospital), water purification system installation and service in homes & businesses, administrative support, online search listing quality assurance, QCM and plant management
  • And more...

Amtrak, Kaiser Permanente, Taco Bell & Yahoo! are the most recognizable names; perhaps most impressive on paper is that I was brought in by reputation to a locally famous 100-year-old coffee roasting company in L.A. to create and implement a quality control program - they had never instituted one since formation in the late 1800s - even although I had no expertise in either coffee or quality control.

  • I could go on, but the point is simple: Every job I've ever done has led me here. Never did I think I expect to become a janitor/repair guy, (Facilities is of course so much more,) but ever since I returned home and found my God running after me with open arms, all of my time was being spent at Adventure volunteering when one day, working alongside my Executive Pastor, he said, "We have positions open, would you be interested?" A resounding "Yes!" later, and I've never been happier or more fulfilled in my life.

Five years later, I still find something nearly every day from any position I've ever worked to inform me as to my fit and proper comportment in this, the best job I've ever had in my life. Starting from my 11-year-old self working at my mom's busy restaurant, the dedicated toast-butterer on crazybusy Saturday and Sunday mornings. I have drawn from all of it, and will continue to do so, because I can see His hand in all of it...guiding me here. Training me and calling me into service at my Workchurch.

So,I recognize that this is no common resume, and frankly that's because I'm not really looking for a job.

I'm looking for a new home.🙂
