  • Aviation supply clerks are required many functions in relationship to furnishing logistics support to aviation
    activities. Their prime objective is to satisfy valid customer requirements. Aviation supply clerks receive
    requirements, validate all data elements of the requirement, process the requirement for issue or further processing
    into the Naval Supply System. They also initiate requisition follow-ups to the various supply control points to
    obtain the latest status available, receive the material from the issuing activity, and process the material for further issue to the requisitioner. Aviation supply clerks are required to receive, maintain, store, transfer, control, manage
    and issue all consumable and repairable material that is procured for retention as stock. Aviation supply clerks are
    to ensure that all stock material is inventoried on a continuous basis; all incoming material is received and added to
    the stock levels and inventory records adjusted; all issues from stock are recorded and stock levels are
    decremented; mechanized inventory and financial records are updated. Aviation supply clerks are also required to
    manage material assets through the use of mechanized computer output. Basic supply data is entered through
    computer terminals by aviation supply clerks and recorded data retrieved either via computer terminal or computer
    generated reports. Administrative tasks for aviation supply clerks include the preparing of naval messages and
    correspondence, maintaining a reference library of all technical and operational publications required to assist in
    the day-to-day operation of the aviation supply department, and operating word processors, and automated data
    processing equipment.
