Accomplishments
I think my greatest accomplishment started with my last job working in the Hospital. Even though I was used to being around and working with patients who are ill and need extra love. Nothing prepared me more than anything until COVID nearly whipped out the human race.
around February 2020 it was a normal shift for me coming in at 1 p.m. and I noticed that everyone had their mask on and the waiting room had at least 90 patients waiting. Knowing our ER can hold up to 105 patients bed-wise trying to clear the ER seems like a task that we just couldn't accomplish. As I clocked in my PPC came up to me and ask we are so backed up that are just burnt out. This was new among us all even the doctors were overworked but still maintained to keep the patient stable. Nurses were crying, er techs it just wasn't enough to keep up with the patient flow. We had ambulances waiting on the wall for rooms. Even though I was a manager I communicated well with my supervisor to let her know that we can do this and we will accomplish how things are flowing. We are the second largest hospital that takes on 5 surrounding counties. We do what we can and let the patients know that we are there for them. We have to come up with a plan so each area can flow at a steady pace.
I think the year of COVID-19 was the day the earth stood still. In the midst of it all losing co-workers who turned into family, Lost of loved ones I can honestly say that surviving a pandemic while working in the ER has to be one of the best accomplishments I have achieved because at that moment tomorrow wasn't promised and yet I am here today
