
Logistics Specialists are responsible for providing exceptional customer service, operating financial accounting systems, managing inventories of repair parts and general supplies that support ships, squadrons and shore-based activities to include the Military Postal System. They serve aboard Naval Surface Ships, Aviation Squadrons, Fleet Logistics Center (FLC), Naval Air Stations, Aviation Support Divisions (ASD), Staff billets, Presidential Support, Military Postal Systems, Construction battalions and Naval Special Warfare. LSs procure, receive, store, and issue material and repair components and utilize financial accounting programs and databases. TAR Logistic Specialist also serve in Military Post Offices.
The duties performed by Logistics Specialists include:
• Providing exceptional customer service in a fast paced environment.
• Identifying, ordering, stocking and issuing repair parts, clothing and general supplies utilizing the Navy Supply System. They are responsible for proper follow up and receipt procedures, warehouse layout and storage, and the proper operation of the Government Purchase Card Program utilizing open market purchasing.
• Perform duties associated with hazardous material control and management.
• Maintaining inventory databases for material stocked in shore based warehouses and shipboard storerooms.
• Maintaining financial records and accounting systems via Relational Supply (R-Supply) and Naval Aviation Logistics Command Management Information System (NALCOMIS) systems.
• Organizing and maintaining property accounting databases, correspondence files and reports.
• Maintaining logistics, financial publications and CD-ROM libraries.
• Managing and operating Military Postal System (afloat and ashore), preparing and maintaining postal records and reports, processing, dispatching, routing and transportation of mail.
• 2nd NATO Signal Battalion logistics specialist, supported and distributed critical and non critical materials to 8 deployable units consisting of multi nationals throughout 6th fleet area of responsibility in Europe.
• Currently assigned to USS Phil Sea CG-58 as one of the logistics specialist responsible for the supply cycle of the ship assuring mission readiness throughout deployment in the Middle East: Red Sea.
• Solely responsible for supporting HSM-74 as their logistical support managing over $50 million worth of properties. Ensuring that the squadron are mission ready by procuring and expediting highly critical parts required to fulfill missions throughout the deployment in Middle East: Red Sea.
