Property Maintenance Engineer

HRT is the largest REIT dedicated to ambulatory healthcare properties in the United States. 720 properties nationwide, 34 in CT. I work in all our 34 buildings in CT.

- Perform regular preventative maintenance checks of all buildings and grounds, basement to roof. Inspect all major equipment (Air handlers and RTU's, Generators, water heaters, backflow devices, fire alarm panels and sprinkler systems, roof membranes and drains, lighting and power, etc. ) for proper operation, leak detection, and problem diagnosis.

- Meet with all fire/life safety, pest control, HVAC and other vendor technicians and give access or accompany and help them them while they perform their work.

- We engineers are given full rights by corporate to either fix any problem ourselves, or if too large or complex a project, to seek a vendor for a quote and contract.

- Make sure vendors fill out inspection reports completely and to our standards, for us to keep on file.

- Set up yearly walk-throughs with fire marshals, and immediately correct any non-compliant issues.

- Coordination and communication with my project manager and all subcontractors, timeline planning, hosting tenant/client meetings and walk-throughs during demolition/construction, with a focus on keeping to the schedule and budget.

- Constantly looking over architectural plans for accuracy of work, compliance of spec, and for change orders.

- Using Procore Construction Management App to log data, upload pictures and notes, look up drawings, find submittals, etc.

- Hold weekly safety meetings with all contractors on site, positively highlight good practices and correct any unsafe practices.

Facilities and Life Safety Manager

CSHHC is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center serving New Haven and surrounding communities. The Facilities dept maintains the headquarters location and 9 satellite sites.

- Develop scope of work, seek bids, approve quotes on all mechanical vendors including HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical, painting, etc.

- Implement temporary fire/life safety measures during construction projects, and minimize the negative impact of construction for staff and patients in buildings.

- Attend and represent the facilities dept at monthly risk assessment meetings, infection prevention meetings, quality control and improvement meetings, board of directors meetings, etc.

- Maintaining responsibility for the company's overall OSHA and NFPA compliance, run fire quarterly fire drills for all 10 locations, and ensure the local fire marshal's satisfaction for each site.

- Preparing for and being the main point of contact for Joint Commission audits and DPH visits at all sites.

- Proud moment - On April 14th, 2020 when the pandemic was full scale, Lt Gov Bysiewicz did a press conference at the CSHHC Dixwell Ave site after we got the first Covid testing clinic in the state up and running.

Interests

I passionate about skiing and ski racing, and am the Vice president of my Tuesday night ski club, The CT Industrial Ski Council When not skiing, I enjoy hiking anywhere

My wife is a talented chef and owns Foodology Cooking School in Plantsville, and we have 5 almost adult children We have lived in Southington together since 2012
