Successfully grew a portfolio of High-Power Energy Storage Systems to include all major DOD services (Army, Navy, AF, Marines, and MDA) and many major Primes (Raytheon, DRS, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman). Directed the efforts to win 9 major/emerging programs across Airborne, Ground, and Shipboard operational domains.
Specific contributions included:
- Identifying the needs through industry presence, professional societies, and trade shows
- Shaping requirements via relationships with key technical stakeholders
- Building relationships at all levels of the prime and Government organizations
- Establishing price to win and working with V.P. Programs and CFO for approval
- Negotiating Intellectual Property rights
I also worked with the EaglePicher CTO to define IRAD projects resulting in a documented and repeatable process for integration of R&D, Business Development, and Applications Engineering staff into the annual IRAD planning process.
Developed Strategic Plan to grow and transact the business within 5 years. Grew the company from 4 people and ~$1.0M revenue to 30 people and $7.0M while maintaining profitability and positive cash flow with no outside investment. Wrote the Prospectus and personally shopped it to several firms resulting five offers before selecting EaglePicher as the best fit. Negotiated the final sale and closed the acquisition in three months.
Grew the operation from 20 people to over 300 and $60M revenue. Achieved or exceeded Orders, EBIT, and cash targets for 14 years in a row. Business was partially based on several personal patents for guided projectiles, missile and exo-atmospheric interceptor controls. Constructed two facilities within walking distance of each other including a large cleanroom for the interceptor programs. This growth was the result of personal relationships across Supply Chain, Engineering, and Executives at key customers including Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, and Boeing.
Managed multiple programs including a strategic relationship with Fokker Aircraft. Negotiated the sale of the Actuation Systems buiness unit.
