- Job Site Preparation & Support: Assist with digging pole holes, climbing poles, trenching, plumbing poles, setting anchors, and raising or lowering materials/tools to linemen aloft via handlines.
- Material Handling: Load and unload poles, transformers, hardware, and equipment from trucks and trailers. Organize and maintain inventory on service vehicles so the crew runs efficiently.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate line trucks, winches, and various power and hand tools. Assist in pulling wires, tensioning guys, and driving ground rods.
- Safety & Traffic Control: Act as a dedicated "ground observer" to alert aloft lineworkers to hazards such as passing traffic, falling objects, or unsafe footing. Set up work zone traffic control (flagging, cones, and barricades).
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, store, and regularly inspect rubber goods, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and hot sticks.
- Emergency & Storm Response: Participate in on-call rotations and readily respond to emergency power outages, adverse weather events, and disaster restoration efforts.
