My first job was a courtesy clerk at a grocery store called Brookshires. This job had many responsibilities such as; greeting customers in a polite and respectful manner, taking groceries out to customer's cars, cleaning restrooms two to three times a day, face shelves if we were slow, and look busy even if i wasn't. I attended this job from February 2016 to August 2016. Reason leaving was to focus on the rest of my high school year.
After having a ranch job for almost a year, i decided to job hunt again hoping to find something in the automotive industry such as maybe a mechanic. After getting a job offer at a body shop from a friend that worked there, on August 4th of 2017 i began working at Auto-body Express in Tyler, Texas as a body technician apprentice. No it wasn't a mechanic job however the responsibilities/rolls of this job taught me a lot. I was expected to bring in a damaged vehicle (with or without a forklift), green-sheet the vehicle (list every part required to repair this vehicle), repair the vehicle in a time quicker than what was given (flag hour), and inspect the vehicle after it returned from was to ensure the customer would be satisfied with my work. unfortunately this job faced business loss in the month of November in which resulted in the loss of my job.
After leaving Auto-body Express, I was hired on at Hall Buick GMC in November of 2017 as a lube tech and used car tech. Doing used cars I was expected to drive the car 10-20 miles, fill out a 132-point used car inspection or a 150-point inspection (if the car had less than 35,000 miles on it and was free of any after-market accessories), do an oil change or repair anything if need on the vehicle, and turn 30+ hours a week (flag time). However, my title now is an HVAC, Electrical, and drive-ability technician. Doing this I serviced, diagnosed and repaired any HVAC, Electrical or Fuel related issues and sometimes suspension. i departed from Hall buick GMC for the better opportunity at NOV portable power.
NOTE: I do use a forklift in this job to move heavy items such as engines, transmissions and rear-ends.
After Hall Buick GMC, I joined NOV Portable Power in Odessa, Tx. NOV Portable Power offers a diversified fleet of diesel and natural gas gensets ranging from 15Kw to 1250Kw for onshore and off shore projects. It is my responsibility to maintain, service, troubleshoot and repair portable power generators. I am a full time technician here and required to be on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I have completed many safety courses such as; What PPE to wear for certain jobs, when to use LOTO and how to use different LOTO methods, high voltage safety training and safe driving training. I am also very experienced with operating a Doosan D160-S forklift.
Upon returning to this job, I was hired as at a more advanced level of tech service. This being said, I was expected to service and repair a diverse fleet of natural gas and diesel generators, with adequate diagnostic tools of my own. During the four years of being employed with NOV, I have had had experience with maintenance and repairs, customer service, book keeping and frequent inventory checks.
