Duties: To manage and supervise employees within the Signal Lab Crews, overseeing signal and school flashers installations and troubleshooting malfunctions to ensure proper operations and installations of traffic signal control devices statewide. Schedule and distribute work assignments to employees based on calls from the public and standard preventive maintenance procedures. My position is responsible for ensuring proper repairs and maintenance are being completed in a timely manner in accordance with standard procedures; ensure intersection timing sheets are completed for each work activity; monitor intersections for efficiency and ensuring proper operation statewide; work with Electrical contractors on re-wiring of aging traffic signal and newly traffic signal intersections; and order and keep stock of any parts that are needed to keep intersections in proper operation.

Duties: Lead technician of six tech out on the maintenance crew. Installing and inspecting contractors work on new traffic signal intersections. This includes public right of ways, Americans with Disability Acts (ADA) cross ways, perpendicular or parallel curb ramps, detectable warning devices for the visually impaired when entering hazardous intersections, ADA pedestrian signals and buttons at intersections, traffic signals poles, pole bases, mast arms, signal lights, pull boxes, cabinet wiring, wiring and grounding of all traffic signals, and new school flashers. Program controllers that operate and run intersection, and also programing traffic detection such as cameras, traffic road loops, and radar detections with the use of computer for proper operation of intersection. This includes radar traffic advance detection and traffic signal coordination that runs and links intersections. Other programming includes preemptors for emergency first responders like the fire departments. Maintenance and installing of electronic traffic control monitoring devices/systems on state maintained roadways. Install, test, repair, and replace of traffic signal components, such as cabinets, wires, cameras, radar vehicle detection systems, LED lighting, and other electrical/electronic components to keep traffic signals working properly at intersections throughout New Mexico.
