I recently ran for the Houston County Sheriff position as a representative of the Republican Party. Though I did not advance to the run-off, I learned many skills throughout the campaign and the importance of staying true to your core values. One of the most valuable actions I took part in during the campaign was traveling door-to-door to speak directly with the citizens of Houston County. This helped me to truly understand what their concerns are and what changes they would like to see within the community. The biggest lesson I learned was that we have to hear our community and be proactive as leaders to ensure we are providing the best possible resolution for their concerns. I successfully raised over $40,000 and was fortunate to be able to be the main contributor to my own campaign. Being a business owner and a political candidate has enabled me to form relationships with the Houston County GOP as I was elected as a delegate, Warner Robins Republicans, and Middle Georgia Republican Women to which my wife Cindy is a member and I am an associate member.
